Unfortunately, Microsoft has not specified what display drivers are problematic. If your PC uses a 64-bit processor and supports Intel VT-X or AMD-v virtualization, which most new hardware supports, Windows 10 offers extra virtualization-based security features. I can’t recall a specific example, but I’m fairly sure that the nVidia servers have offered drivers in the past that were no longer supported on old cards. I have no direct knowledge whether that may be true here.

For example, we installed the nvidia-340 driver version. Choose a driver to install from the list of available GPU drivers. The best fit is the latest tested proprietary version. The driver installed on your machine is selected by default.
On my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS there is no nvidia-common package so the extra step of sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop can be omitted. Although all above commands not needed, this is my way to completely purge the nvidia driver and use the open source nounveau. If you remove –purge the nvidia driver you will source be OK.
